On 23 July, we went on a trial trip to see whether we should offer flatfish trips going forward. We tried several spots where we expected a decent catch, but unfortunately far too many were under the minimum size limit; however, the last two spots produced good-sized, large plaice. Both spots were over sandy bottom but close to rocky reefs, while the first stop was pure sand with no stones nearby. The trial trip was arranged to see whether we should offer these at times when there’s not much cod around. Experience shows we can offer 6–8-hour trips for interested parties, with a minimum of 8 participants. Participants must bring their own bait worms.
